Flexible Hunting Hours
Enjoy the freedom to hunt anytime between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM. Whether you’re ready at first light or prefer a slower morning, the schedule is yours. No waiting, no pressure — just you, your dog, and the field.
Guest House in the Heart of the Farm
The guest house is located in the center of the farm, placing you steps from the action. Walk across the road and you’re in the field — no long drives, no wasted time, no hassle. At River Road Roosters, convenience meets quality.
Fresh Ground Daily
Each day, depending on your group size, you’ll hunt a different part of the farm. This thoughtful rotation keeps the birds moving naturally and the hunting experience fresh. From thick cover to open cropland, you’ll explore a variety of terrain that challenges both hunter and dog.
Not Just a Preserve — A Wild-Inspired Hunt
At River Road Roosters, this isn’t a put-and-take setup. The preserve is carefully managed to maintain a strong, naturally behaving pheasant population. We follow a strict rooster-only harvest policy to protect and sustain the resource. Every decision — from habitat work to hunting pressure — supports a more authentic, rewarding hunt

Thanks to Iowa’s hunting preserve regulations, the season runs from September 1 through March 31 — giving you extra time in the field beyond the standard wild bird season.
